Inchcolm Island

mrsmono had bought a Groupon voucher a while back for a family trip to Inchcolm Island - being Historic Scotland members, we thought that the discount on the trip there & back would make for a relatively cheap day out (non HS members have to pay to get off the boat, on to the Island).

We only decided to go due to the fact that the tours stop at the end of October, and we didn't want to wait until the last minute, as these things are always busy on the last day with folk trying to use their vouchers before they expire. In saying that, we couldn't have picked a better day for it - the sun was out, the Forth was calm and there was hardly any wind at all. Having wrapped up warm in anticipation of being frozen out on the boat and on a lump of rock in the middle of the Firth of Forth, it was actually quite warm (especially trying to keep up with the boys exploring all around the island).

Neither of us had been before, and I actually really enjoyed it. It was a fascinating place, and having only had a few hours to explore, warrants another trip next summer.
