Alcester held one of its twice yearly food markets today . The weather was good and it was packed. The Court Leet has the onerous responsibility to make sure that various foodstuffs, meat bread fish and Ale etc are fit for the inhabitants to consume. This is the ale taster, who having established that the beer was sound and the barmaids were of reputable character, decided that it was safe for consumption. That is a relief because there was a fair amount of consumption going on.
