ENJOYING THE SEA AND SUN - PINKTOBER 19

Saw this surfer just enjoying the sun and waiting for the waves to be just right. I wanted to get an outdoor blip today and despite taking lots of other photographs, decided this one fitted in well with the BCAM pink challenge.

We went down to our favourite beachside restaurant to meet friends for coffee, then after they left, Mr. HCB decided he would like to go for a walk, so left me reading the Sunday papers - “silver legs” and walking in very blustery conditions don’t really go together! Behind glass with the sun shining brightly and out of the wind, I could quite easily have dozed off, but resisted the temptation.

When Mr. HCB got back we walked along to the pier, but didn’t stay too long as it got windier by the minute - but it was good to be out in the fresh air to watch all that was happening on the beach, to listen to the roar of the waves and to feel the wind in our hair - the wind certainly helped all the kite surfers, who were out in force.

When anxious,
uneasy and bad thoughts come,
I go to the sea,
and the sea drowns them out
with its great wide sounds,
cleanses me with its noise,
and imposes a rhythm
upon everything in me
that is bewildered and confused.
Rainer Maria Rilke
