The rat run

On your marks, get set, go....up the road in 7 and a bit hours instead of the 11 hours it took to get down the road.

Our journey down south was officially horrendous for a whole range of reasons, one of which involved climbing down a motorway embankment, another involved stopping at a hotel reminiscent of The Shining and another involved navigating Chigwell and Romford with tempers flaring and fatigue taking over. I blame hubby for saying "Can't believe what a good run we're having..." as we were driving down the Birmingham Toll road.

Up the road was peaceful, calm and straightforward in comparison.
