Grande Staircase

I was invited to on of our charity partners AGM today. Can't resist a free lunch. Good to catch up with some old faces and there was really interesting speaker on a piece of local social history relating to a Recuperation Centre for Tired Mothers and their Children (make of that what you will) There then followed a tour of Lytham Hall a grade 1 listed building now waiting to be restored with a large Heritage Lottery Grant. This was the ceiling of the Grande Staircase with a plaster ceiling by some Italian bloke Giuseppe Cortese. The figure is of course Jupiter complete with thunderbolt. The last owners of hall blew all the family money on exotic foreign travel, dubious investments and high living.
