Pointing

The piece of art, made by Martin Borchert can be seen from afar: the Wind Buoy (in Dutch: Waaiboei) is eight meters high and stands on top of the dike at New Statenzijl (NL). It was created in 1996 and stands loose on the embankment, where it moves with the wind.

It is placed on the northern tip of the Netherlands, on the border between land and water, also the border between the Netherlands and Germany. Its 8 meter high and tapered tower looks, from a distance, like a buoy and a church at the same time. But it is a very mobile tower! Because the spherical bottom is weighted with concrete, the work of art swings back and forth, but remains on its place.

Worth viewing a bit bigger.
