The meeting

Saturday morning saw us taking a turn around town before we left to go to the country for the weekend (on which, see Sunday's blip).

The main drag in Zadar reminds me quite a lot of Dubrovnik - at least for polished limestone paving stones, if not necessarily all of the architecture, which is mixed, to say the least, here (actually one of Zadar's attractions).

Afterwards we went to buy some flowers in the market, and I had an interesting chat with a flower seller, who turned out to have spent all her youth in Canada (having been born in Croatia and left in the 1960s as a small child with her parents), before returning in the late 1970s when she married a Croatian man.

I'll write about our whirlwind Saturday afternoon and Sunday in Sunday's blip.
