Off to see Mackintosh's "Begonias"

Off on the Subway from Shields Road to Hillhead, to see the Charles Rennie Mackintosh displays in the Hunterian Art Gallery, University of Glasgow.

Glad I made the effort, the "Begonias" are quite beautiful. Very special to see, along with a few other watercolours from CRM's time in Walberswick, including gorgeous "Petunias". These are only on display until end of October.

I also enjoyed looking at several Travel Sketches, including some of his books, which are on show until 1 March 2015. Really enjoyed those on the Holy Isle, which give a hint of his inspiration for elevations of the Glasgow School of Art. There are also small coloured seapinks in some of the sketches, so pretty.

Due to no photos in the Hunterian, you have the advert for Mackintosh's Scotland Street School, which is across the road from the Shields Road Station. Just had to include a hint of our "clockwork orange", which goes round in a circle.
