A tame crab apple tree

When in Cumbria last week my brother-in-law handed over a carrier bag full of wild crab apples and suggested I make crab apple jelly for us all. Like it!

For many years this little crab apple tree in the garden has produced some fruit and at this stage the tiny fruit are a delight to see although they are rapidly decomposing. This morning all suitable fruit was placed in the pot along with their wild counterparts and as I write one batch is dripping into a large bowl.

The apples will make two batches with 2 kilograms per load.
