Wheelchair Warriors

Today was a fantastic day! It was the launch of the (Scottish) Women Wheelchair Warriors Basketball Club. The idea is to create an opportunity for (older) women with illness, injury, long term conditions or just auld age 'n' bad luck to reconnect through sport and have fun as well as improving health and well being. The focus is on women with disabilities and those without, playing team sport together.
This was the result of a conversation between myself and another woman who uses a wheelchair while spectating at the Commonwealth Games. She commented on my pink wheelchair, we got gabbing and decided we needed to do something to get more women into 'joint' sport. So we did!!
This is a true legacy from the Games with the majority of us over 40 and a few grannies in there! Shona Robison the Minister for Public Health and Sport (She was responsible for the Commonwealth Games) came along. She joined in and was a real sport.
Great fun, great day and awesome people!
