Firies at it again

There has been a fire burning on the outskirts of Katoomba on the cliff above the Megalong Valley. One house has been lost and other residents evacuated.
This morning we headed down to our farm which would be in its direct line with an unfavourable wind direction.

All looked quiet and peaceful till we were nearly there, then around the last corner we could see smoke. The fire was in the glen, about 4 or 5 km from our house. There are a couple of properties closer to it, and they are in heavy bush.

For several hours we could see helicopters water bombing the fire which is in inaccessible bushland. By about 3pm there was virtually no smoke, although they were still dropping water.

When we got home we saw on TV that the fire is still raging out of control, but that appears (hopefully) to be an exaggeration.

This is no doubt the first Thank You of the summer to our wonderful firefighters.
