Transporter

Books are pathways to other places, glimpses into someone else's reality. If it's well written, it lifts you up, enfolds you and transports you away from your current state, regardless of the genre.

I don't do nearly enough escapist reading (novels and such) as it seems a bit of a luxury, something one does on vacation, when there is nothing else to do. Someone hit me over the head.

Edit: It is one of my favorite books ever, The Webster's New World Dictionary...also the only book whose pages are so thin that you can easily roll them and tuck them into the binding.
