One river bursts its banks

The little Afon (River) Gwaun in spate after we had an overnight deluge.
Usually I walk between these trees growing on the bank of the river which flows to the right of them. Here's how it looks normally. Rainfall on the hills swells the river until it bursts its banks and sluices all the autumnal debris out into the sea.

JMW Turner, in the news on account of the new film about him, painted A River in Spate in the late 19th century. These things don't change.

More rain is falling and the river is still rising. Luckily I don't live close enough to be in danger. I've always had a strong urge to stay on higher ground.
