Musings of a Mortal

The River Wild

With the in-laws up for the weekend and since I managed to get the day off work (yay!!), we decided to head up to the Hermitage at Dunkeld and enjoy a nice wee wander by the river, enjoying the colours that still were remaining in the trees.

The weather started out great with blue skies, but soon the clouds appeared and rain loomed on the horizon. Undeterred we pressed on and followed the signs for the Braan Walk which entailed a 4 mile circular route.

At one point we passed over "Rumbling Bridge" and as myself and Jonathan watched a Red Squirrel scurrying over the said bridge and into the trees, the power of the waterfall that was before us was an amazing spectacle to behold!

This is a shot of the river, just before it hits the waterfall under the bridge.

The power of water always amazes me - it has the capability to refresh as a drink but it also has the ability to shape rocks and even destroy ships. It can be boiled, turned into a gas and even frozen......

....and all this from 2 elements - Hydrogen and Oxygen - and there was a fair few of them tumbling down the river today!!
