The dialogue from Luke (New Century Version) of the disciples on the road to Emmaus as Jesus joins them is shown here. The book on the right is the Gospel of Luke translated into Gullah, the language of West African slaves who lived in the coastal Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. The title of this book is: De Good Nyews Bout Jedus Christ Wa Luke Write. I attended a program a few weeks ago about the Gullah language, people, and circumstances. The letter H is omitted in the Gullah language,so the phrase "Tank you Lord" is correct and spoken as spelled. A few people can still speak Gullah. There are several Gullah centers and museums along the coastal areas noted above.
