Lest We Forget

I really did try to join the two minutes of silence at 11 o'clock; I had the radio channel already on the TV - but couldn't understand why the previous programme was still on. Eventually I twigged that, as I'd put it on pause when a friend rang a few minutes before, I was running a few minutes later than the broadcast. The bugles were playing Reveille when I finally caught up.

Perhaps there is little merit in observing the silence when alone and perhaps my attendance at the church Remembrance Service on Sunday will suffice. The enormity of the sacrifice by so many to obtain peace for our country is so hard to imagine but our gratitude knows no bounds.
