Bealach Dubh

Earlier in the week we had every right to believe that we'd be snorkelling up the hills this weekend as the forecasts had been dreadful. Even yesterday had been atrocious as we drove to Bridge of Orchy station to get the train to Corrour to get ourselves into Loch Ossian YH. We set off before 8 in gorgeous weather and got to the top of Loch Ossian and part of the way up Uisge Labhair on the road for the new mini hydro scheme before leaving the bikes and heading up to the summit of Beinn Eibhinn. With the weather still holding and looking good, Colin, Sam and I headed out to Aonach Beag and then Geal-Charn. We had made good time and then decided to head out to Carn Dearg; above Culra Bothy. Having reached that by two we headed down the slope and up the path to the Bealach Dubh. Being in the shadow of the hills there I could see that the tops were getting bathed in golden light , but the legs weren't for putting a sprint in. Still managed to get to the top to get a brilliant sunset before descending into Uisge Labhair in fading light before doing three miles along the most atrocious muddy track I've encountered in years. Three happy boys got to their bikes for the easy ride back to the hostel.

Food was eaten and whisky was drunk. A great evening with the rest of the club. I should have went to my bed early, but some of you ken me better than that..... ;)
