U-Bahn München: 44/100 Kieferngarten

Munich underground: 44/100 Kieferngarten

Like it's southern and northern neighbours, the stations at Freimann, Fröttmaning, and Garching-Hochbrück, Kieferngarten underground station is a faux underground station, as it is actually above surface. It was opened in 1971 as part of Munich's first underground line and was its northern terminus and only access to the train yard until 1994, when Fröttmaning underground station opened next to a large car park.

Kieferngarten station is one of the few in Munich's underground network with 4 tracks and 2 island platforms.

It's a rather unattractive station again, so two moving trains had to improve the picture.

I just realized that this is the first station I photographed with my excellent Sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens.
