Times past

Time stopped for this clock some years ago but it brings back memories of the time when it lived in my great-grandfather’s house in Orpington. The clock was manufactured by the Ansonia Clock Company in New York – according to the Internet they were most active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which would fit in with my great-grandfather having been born around 1870. The dark wood reminds me of his house, too, which I remember as being full of dark oak panelling and furniture (a bit like those reconstructions of late Victorian rooms that you see in heritage museums!).
