View over Inverary and castle from Dun na Cuaiche

On the Downton trail today we walked in the grounds of Inverary castle. The location for the 2013 Christmas special is a real picture-book castle built in a curious green sandstone.

Inverary castle is the seat of the Dukes of Argyll and the dreaded Campbell family.

This picture was taken from the top window of the Dun na Cuaiche watch tower - a folly built on the hill overlooking the castle and giving a splendid view down Loch Fyne.
