Ring, Ring

Bet you thought that Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. Well, the French believe that it was one of theirs - a certain Charles Bourseul, whose statue graces the Place Gambetta in our French home town - who was the real inventor of the telephone. I was a little sceptical. But here is Wikipedia on the subject of M. Bourseul. Like the television, there were many people working on the technology all at the same time. So, I guess they all deserve credit.
