Opactwo Cystersow w Lubiazu - Lubiaz Abby

Had a lovely last Milicz-based day today. Started with a nice sunny morning walk with Marcin. We went to see the 'Forest School' which is midway through refurbishment and has already made the transition from 'haunted house' back to palace - looking great!

Then we went on an adventure with Marcin's brother, Mirek and their friend Adaƛ. We drove West to Lubiaz to visit the UNESCO listed Lubiaz Abby, one of the largest Abbies in Europe. It was fascinating to see the building and learn more about its history on a (Polish language) tour. Sadly since/while being used to make weapons in WW2 and being used as a psychiatric hospital during Soviet times, the Abby has fallen into ruin. While some small parts of the Abby have been restored, millions, if not billions would be needed to return it to its former glory. So much potential!

After warming up over hot chocolate, we headed to Wroclaw, which was lovely and festive with the Christmas market and lights. We had a nice wander, did a spot of shopping and ate freshly made mini doughnuts by an outdoor fire :)
