Mount Baker Theatre Chandelier

The Mount Baker Theatre is a real gem of early 20th century architecture. It opened on April 29, 1927 and was restored to its present amazing state in 1996. It is the home of the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra. We attended the WSO third concert of the season today. It included Mahler's Fourth Symphony. Generally I'm not a huge fan of Mahler's music so I was expecting the worst. Boy was I wrong. The piece is light and bright and I really enjoyed the concert. A wonderful young soprano, Dawn Wolski, sang the last movement and also a Mozart aria. Her voice was radiant and added to the fine playing of the orchestra to create a beautiful and scintillating performance. Lovely concert.
