Tinfish

I was driving along the Innellan shore this morning when I saw what I thought - at first- was the prow of a boat coming across the Clyde.

However I soon realised it was the conning tower of a large submarine - a tinfish as they are sometimes called - making its way to Faslane accompanied by a retinue of small craft, which usually indicates that this is a nuclear sub which needs guarded in home waters.

Everybody I speak to who sees these locally on their journeys in and out is fascinated and repelled in equal measure. Time they weren't here - or anywhere for that matter.
