Another day

This area is called Doroba where William came to replace a an old pump installed by others, who put it in and had no maintenance plan in place. The pump lasted about a year and broke down 5 years ago.
This is the standard picture across Africa, where thousnds of pumps costing millions of pounds, just don't work.
In August we earmarked 200 pumps for repair and replacement; this is another off our list!
We fitted our first 3 pumps in Doroba in 2007, when there were 143 cases of Cholera and 6 people died. We have kept adding pumps and good news, there was no case of Cholera this year.
We are all happy with the outcome, but are vigilant that there are no breakdowns.
