The Wrong Member Of The Ardeidae Family

I made a flying visit to Fishers Green in The Lee Valley Park this afternoon. The light was very poor but I was hoping to spot a bittern. I crept into the empty Bittern hide and was confronted by the sight of this grey heron and a cormorant, both very close.

I opted for Jack but wish I'd shot the cormorant instead as I have posted a heron recently. I watched a pair of water rail scurrying about and got some pics too grainy to post.

According to the board in the hide the bittern has been seen today so I'll keep trying.
