More stone and rust

A real spring morning, which we spent doing some work in the garden. I liked this lichen on the gatepost of a neighbour's garden.

Because there isn't room between the houses in the village for gardens, the gardens are grouped together, some by the river and some up on the hill just outside the village where there is a spring. The old walls and water channels have been there for centuries and are protected (luckily, otherwise our present mayor would concrete the whole area, I think!). It makes another village community, with gardeners giving newcomers (like us) lots of advice and plants.
