From raw to ripe

Baking day, and my monomonday: change entry. Making cinnamon rolls, with lots of cardamon, is something I learned as a small girl in Finland. Some aspects of this practice I've not changed. After I knead the dough and prepare it to rise, I make a cross on the top of it with with the edge of my palm, just like my mom did, and her mom before that. Bread was precious. It was treated with respect, because they (at least my grandma) had known what it was to be without.
My picture depicts some of the yet to be baked rolls in the front and those out of the oven in the back. What a delicious change heat brings!
