Adonis the Pole Dancer

I spied this Adonis through an open door in the Talbot Rice Art Gallery in Old College - far too titillating not to blip on my early morning wander.

Today we paid a sad farewell to a much loved member of our cycling club.
Richard was one of life's true gentlemen: always first to fix our punctures, encourage us along when we were tired and flagging a bit, and tell us about every stick and stone on the roads which he knew like the back of his hand. He was a man of small stature with a huge heart. We will so miss him on our runs.
His obituary in today's 'The Scotsman' newspaper says it all much better than I.

As many of us as possible in the Lothians CTC and the Edinburgh Road Club, braving the gale force gusts of wind, met in cycling gear before the funeral and cycled together to the crematorium. I found it very moving.

His family had put his bike beside the coffin and as his son said, it had never been so clean. Richard was always too busy cycling to bother cleaning it.

The cycling fraternity in Edinburgh are a wonderful bunch of people and he was one of the best.
