Black Diamond Regional Park

The Friday Hike had spectacular weather and scenery today. We hiked for several hours, took our time, and enjoyed the wildflowers. Seven women in all. I had a hard time picking the blip photo but settled on this one as representative of the park and the day.

The present park area included several booming coal mining towns between 1850 and 1905--hence the name Black Diamond. Barely visible in this photo is an old cemetary, the only remnant of the mining communities, on the hill in the background.
