Sunday 12 August 2007: The Spire
or "the huge bloody pointy thing in the middle of Dublin" as someone called it in the streets.
The Spire is a big metal spire with a height of 120 m (this is really really long for a big metal spike). And it is strangely fascinating. Or as Lonely Planet puts it:
"it is meant to be the centrepiece in a programma regenerating O'Connel Street. And, for no reason other than it's tall and shiny, it actually does the trick rather nicely."
