Me, Myself and Catherine

New beginnings

On Call. Busy day. Though this is better than interminable waiting, waiting, waiting...
Most vets seem to be hyperresponsive to the sound of a telephone. The alarm signalling the transformation from tense restless waiting to immediate action and wakefulness. Answering the call, we will know our fate - shortly.

It is lambing time in the Yorkshire Dales. And some of those ewes will need caesarians. A gory picture perhaps, but part of the reality of farming life. A kit waiting for cleaning and sterilising, and new lives beginning.

In just under 47 hours I will be able to let the telephone out of earshot. But till then, I wait, my actions dictated by what will be.
