The Number One Tourist Snap

This is San MIchele in foro, first mentioned in 795 in written records. It was rebuilt in 1070 by Pope Alexander II. The facade is 13th Century. It is the most photographed church in Lucca (Italy). There is a large piazza around it which was occupied today by a street market.

On my way home, the Piazza Napoleone looked splendid with the plane trees just beginning to unfurl leaves -- PIAZZA -- uncorrected shot, but I think San Michele is the more dramatic of the two.
