Sunday 11 April 2010: Tip toe through the tulips
This morning hubby and I headed out to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in the Woodburn area in hopes of some great photo opportunities. From March 25th through April 25th is their annual Tulip Festival.
Since it had rained during the night all the flowers had a nice dusting of droplets on the petals. The skies were still gray but clearing rapidly while we were there. Since we had arrived when the gates where open, there was mostly just photographers all over the fields taking photos. We had to be careful that we didn't step into their view and had to wait when someone stepped into ours.
We could only stay about an hour as we were going to be meeting up with family for lunch in Portland. I guess the skies really cleared after we left and there were some cool hot air balloons that we missed out on. It was a good learning experience and I look forward to going next year and spending some more time there and being a bit more prepared. I did see on their brochure that there is a workshop next weekend before the gates open for photographers. I think it would be great to take that workshop next year and get some good tips on photographing the fields.
Later, we met up with our kids and had a fun lunch together at Bridges in Portland. Then we had to say our goodbyes and head back home. We had a great weekend, but always miss our family when we part.
I did a little back blipping.
Friday - Drive to Portland
Saturday - Graduation Party
Thanks for stopping by.
