Big Sid's bag

When life gets uncertain or scary, bury yourself in a bag. It works for Big Sid.

This evening, I went along to the rescue centre and chose between two pairs of female guinea pigs. It's always a hard decision to pick between rescue animals. However, under a large mound of hay somewhere in the cage are Panda and Willow. Both ladies are 7 months old, and Willow has had pups, but they're recently weaned and are ready to venture into their own new worlds sometime soon.

The poor lady pigs were quite terrified when I put them into Big Sid's territory, but Big Sid completely ignored them, then ran face first into the bag. What a big scaredy! However, this is a much better scenario than I've witnessed before at guinea pig bonding, possibly because Sid is male and the new arrivals are female. When I introduced a girl to two girls, it was teeth at dawn! I'm pleased that hasn't happened (fingers crossed).

*News Flash* The big fella is now out of the bag and is eating and drinking. No sign of the ladies, though, or him going to say "hello" to the ladies. There's no point in rushing it - they'll get to know each other in their own time.

**News Flash** As I type, Big Sid has ventured into the mound of hay and the ladies are reversing backwards, but have now stopped. I think we may have some progress.

More on this guinea pig soap opera tomorrow.
