Taking a Break

Hummingbirds don't fly all the time. Stories abound about how they expend so much energy flying that they have to eat lots of sweet nectar to refuel their tiny bodies.

Right now the hummers are showing a great interest in the blossoms in our orange tree.

As a matter of fact they rest a lot. This is a way that they can conserve their energies.

We have had a hummingbird nest in our grapefruit tree for the past two years and we have had the opportunity to see the young ones hatch, grow, and learn to fly.

Maybe again this year...
