4th Avenue Theatre

The 4th Avenue Theater was built in 1947 and was a first run movie theater for the next four decades. When it opened, the streamline theater seated a about 1100 persons in the balcony and main floor.

The theatre survived the 1964 earthquake and has gone through restorations but now is declining. It is still the iconic Art Deco building of old downtown Anchorage.

It has been another drizzly, wet, dreich type of day. It may stay this way until winter.

Edit: dark|adapted has continued the discussion on digital noise and has a great image and some interesting comparisons with photographs from the late 1800's and early 1900's.

This image was shot with an ISO of 800 to noise up the photo in an attempt to simulate old film grain.
