Tuesday 21 August 2007: Cameras ready, prepare to flash
Had a wee joab oan this evening. It mostly involved shooting minors so I probably can't show you any of the results.
I love doing stuff like that with kids - they're so easy going and either have no qualms whatsoever about being in front of the camera, or turn bright red and run away every time you go near them. Either way, easy to deal with.
When there's a big group of them, I usually find there's one that sticks in my mind. This time it was the fifteen year old girl who kept making me let off my flash at full power three inches away from her eyeballs (this is a Canon 550EX, so full power gives you a suntan). She said it was 'like being on drugs'. Then I hit her with the strobe mode and she was on cloud nine.
I hope her retinas are OK in the morning.
Blistering barnacles - I've just realised I look like Captain Haddock!
