Ingunn in Oslo

By IngunnInOslo

Norway is a funny and strange country!

Marthe and her friends crawl in the main street in Oslo from the Parlament to the Royal Palace. They had been crawling for one hour when I walked by, and Marthe was struggling most with her knees. It was snowing today (!), so the weather gave them a hard time too.

The explaination:
Every May in Norway you can see young people wearing similar red, blue, black or yellow clothes. The red and the blue dominates. They are students celebrating that they soon will finished secondary school. They are called "russ".

We are the only country where students celebrate a whole month BEFORE their final exams. They have buses with high music and they party all night long. Needless to say: we love and hate them at the same time. They do all kind strange things to get a knot in their cap. I have never seen the "russ" crawling in the street before. Marthe looks sweet doesn't she? I hope she reached the Palace!
