Reach for the Sky

California poppy (Eschsholtzia californica), sometimes known as the flame flower or copa de oro (cup of gold). This is the state flower of California. I'm a bit early as "Poppy Week" is May 13th - 18th.

We planted a few seeds next to a fence where grass met rocks and this year the seeds took hold. We have an abundance of gold in our yard!
