HIC EST LOCUS -- THIS IS THE PLACE

Five years ago this room had a giant mill basin made of stone in the centre, complete with millstone for crushing olives. The building started life as a chestnut flour mill, was converted to an olive press and finally into a dwelling. The upper story was always the miller's living quarters. There is a motto in Latin above the door. See below. All of the equipment from the house is now in a little museum not far away.

(I do not live here. If I did it would not be so neat and tidy.)

At this time of year the mill stream crashes down the hillside in a succession of little water falls and rushes right past the house. In August it is almost dry. It is a dark day, sorry about the lights.

This is part of the mill stream: MILL STREAM

And this is the motto in Latin above the miller's quarters: VT LAETE VIVAS HIC EST LOCUS For a life of joy, this is the place.
