Thursday 6 May 2010: Swings and roundabouts
Another scorching day, mostly spent on the beach reading The Beach.
At about 5pm, I remembered there was a general election at home today. We cast our votes postally before we left, but I can't help wondering what impact the outcome will really have on our lives. Probably a few quid here and there and some different jokers to shout at, but little else.
Nevertheless, as I type I'm glued to the BBC coverage on channel 84 of our satellite TV system, which seems to otherwise consist of Arab phone-in sex channels showing semi-clad ladies straddling their living room sofas behind dozens of super-imposed international telephone numbers.
Oh look, there's Piers Morgan airing his opinion. I thought he only commented on dancing dogs these days.
It's a crazy old world.
