Monday 10 May 2010: Mailbox
This is big development at the Mailbox in town, and as all major developments at present, is suffering from underselling its apartments (which are horrifically expensive). However construction seems to be continuing. The cladding is very 1960s, not particularly easy on the eye. The real shame (in my opinion) is that to make way for this, a lovely set of canalside warehouse buildings were demolished. They were much more in keeping with the surrounding landscape - lower level and didn't block one's view. This new development thrusts out of the canalside and totally obscures the view from the back of the Mailbox. It really dominates the whole area.
Is it progress?
