Charlemagne

Went out for a stroll after dinner to enjoy the nice weather. The Charlemagne building looked so nice in the evening sun! It is one of the office buildings of the European Commission and is named after the emperor Charlemagne from the Middle Ages.

Emperor Charlemagne (742-814) is often regarded as an early "father of Europe": his empire united most of Western Europe for the first time since the Romans and the Carolingian renaissance encouraged the creation of a common European identity.
