Wednesday 5 September 2007: Life's a beach

The weather's not been up to much, but its been a good day.

And I'm pleased to report that the Danes have redeemed themselves, twice. First off, I let a bus driver through one of these traffic-calming chicane things before me and he made a very dramatic lifting-an-imaginary-hat-off his-head gesture by way of thanks, which made me laugh. Secondly, I discovered that you're allowed to park on the beach. How cool is that?

As if that wasn't enough, fate dealt sweet revenge to the Germans. We stopped at one of the automatic self-serve filling stations which seem to be all the rage here (and accept every flexible friend known to humankind) to fill up the Skaudi. As we were leaving, we saw a German couple arguing with each other because they only had cash and couldn't figure out what the hell to do. Ha!

If the sun's shining tomorrow we're off to fly the new kite. If it's not, we're off to see a U-boat.
