Thursday 20 May 2010: OUT FOR A DUCK #2
Yet again, I wasn't really out for a duck - I was out for a walk but due to my mad, marauding moggy I didn't manage it. As I left the house he was prowling in the garden and decided that he would follow me. This was a bad idea on his part as he and road safety do not go well together. I returned to the house but he refused to follow me back there and so, for the sake of his safety, I had to abandon my plans.
This meant that I could not take a photograph of the 'scene' that I had earmarked the other day and was therefore in a quandary as to what today's subject matter would comprise of. However, fate must have been playing a part in the scuppered plans because as I turned back to the house I spotted Mummy duck, with her five babies, nestled together on the parapet running next to the beck (for those who don't live in Yorkshire this is another word for a stream) which flows next to my house.
Regrettably, at the same time that I noticed the family the cat did too and I was just able to get my blip of the day before Mummy duck quacked her offspring to attention with something which I feel translated into "Come on, let's get out of here - there's a cat about".
