Thursday 20 May 2010: Within biting range
I was bitten by one of these as a kid
My fault really
I got too close carrying a bag of food
regardless, it left me a little wary
This guy lives in the fields across the road.
He's a big boy
but he doesn't seem to mind people
I had to approach slowly and with caution
but with time I eventually got well within biting distance.
He was quite happy, even the shutter sound didn't phase him that close.
I've always believed all animals are the same
How they act is a direct reflection of how they are treated by humans
They all start out life as loving trusting creatures, and (some) humans just destroy this over time.
Thankfully it's normally pretty easy to tell which animals will be a problem
And a camera and juicy fingers sitting 8 inches away from the juiciest grass patch, I was still pretty confident there would be no problems here
We live in the sort of town where tonight we found two guys, strangers to each other, trying to find an owner for a stray dog.
Moments earlier we had heard people up the road calling 'Lucy'. We put them in touch and everyone was happy, especially Lucy the pup.
So in that sort of town, it was no surprise that this guy wasn't phased by me sitting face to face only a couple of feet away.
*EDIT - 2 days later and I've decided I prefer a different photo, not like me at all to do that but hey...
