is the exact number of litres fuel we burned since we left Rio de Janeiro. That is an awful lot of fuel. You can drive your average budget car 250 times around this globe with it. It would take you roughly eleven years of constant driving with 100 km an hour. All these funny facts and figures have a dark side as well I am afraid. It comes with a lot of toxic emissions. There are very strict rules for Nox emissions for modern ship diesel engines, but our 30 year old engines lacks these systems. We burn quite clean marine gas oil and no crude, that is an advantage, but you can not burn that much fuel without consequences. Global warming, disappearing polar caps and rising of the sea level are pretty serious issues, although this fellow accompanying us in the English Channel this morning, wouldn't bother a meter more or less.
Tomorrow we'll arrive in Rotterdam and it will be a pretty busy period the next four days. After that I will go home and come back with four weeks.
