Jejunum

This is my first entry on blipfoto, as I just signed up this morning. I've been at work all day and the only photos I shot were of microscope slides (and not very good ones at that). This is an image of the jejunum, taken at 40x magnification using the Aperio system.

I just now realized how appropriate the slide is as my first entry. That is, the word "jejunum" literally means "empty" (L. jejunus, empty). The jejunum is the second part of the small intestine, and was named as such because after death it is often empty. It is appropriate because now that I have uploaded a photo of the jejunum, my blipfoto journal is no longer empty!
