Sunday 30 May 2010: Penny for them?

93/365: Sunshine and breezes outside. Everything seems so green and bright at the moment - when the weather is good in this country, there's not a lot can top it.

We went to Wollaton Hall and Deer Park this morning and despite having worked in Nottingham for nearly two years and lived here for the past 6 months, it's the first time we've ever been. Blimey - it's gorgeous! Totally took my mind off the miseries which were threatening my mood again this morning (Sunday mornings are especially bad as Sunday was the last day I ever spoke to Dad and I can't help but think about him lots).

Anyway, we all thought the Industrial Museum and its 'steaming' day was just fantastic. Alive with steam, noise and the passion of the volunteers who so brilliantly care for all of the engines. Their enthusiasm was utterly infectious - and not in an 'in your face wooo hoooo look at this kind of way', but their sheer hard work and care in an understatedly British manner was lovely. Will definitely go there again.
